Musical Observation:Lyrical Freedom & Domestic Abuse

Just the other day, I came across the name of an female hip hop artist whom I recalled a short interview revealing her struggles and sudden drift away from the industry. Immediately, I began to think of the other female MC's who in other outlets have voiced her same struggles at one time or another. How hard it must have been for them to fight for their spot on a platform, not often utilized for the positive impact on communities it had been capable of, only to see it whisked away by other men and women with misguided ambitions and dangerous love of money. At this time I'm sure you are wondering what artist are you referring to and what struggles do they have in common? The struggle I answer you is: Domestic Violence.

Although I know for myself that love is clear and everything good, not blind.
I can't help but think of Female rap artist 'EVE' most successful songs, "Love is Blind" where she tackles the very personal story of how domestic violence reared its ugly head in her life and the life of someone she loved and knew.

It seems that a good handful of female hip hop/rap artist, while being vocal about their rights and dislikes, were living in personal bondage behind their lyrics. Let me be clear, I am not telling you that EVE was in any abusive relationship nor implying so. I am however saying that she represents a handful of female artist who came out with such a strong presence, it's sad that some of her peers or those who preceded her were suffering in silence unknowingly to their fan bases. Whether they were in the middle of long term relationships or made the wrong relationship decisions after their career started, they have not in many cases stated.

Questions of why they did not reach out to each other as peers, where were their families, and how are they now come to mind. Now, I'm not asking where are they now to show an interest in wanting them to come back out with any musical material, NO. I'm asking how they are now as it pertains to the condition of their heart & lives. Coming back out is not even the last thing they should be doing, but the first thing they should not be doing. Many times I think some artist mistakenly take the interest of where they are  now, as a sign of they need to make a come back, which is not so. The former audience of some of the most popular groups just need to know, there are people out here that genuinely have a concern of them the person and their freedom from the past. Yes, there are groups of people who want to see them with families, businesses, making positive impacts in their community and not being stuck on what was and what could have been.

The Driving Force: A challenge to adjust your perception

Victorious Ones,

There are so many answered questions, but so few ears to hear. Yes, I said the questions have been answered, though many refuse to hear the truth of the matter in prideful pursuit of self interest.

There are so many personality's on television with lives that are caught up in showcasing the battle of their fears and feeling justified by those who declare " I can identify", that they aren't receiving the healing necessary to live. It seems people have been willing to place themselves in positions of destruction and defeat, in order to be deemed more credible in the eyes and company of those who've suffered from uninvited affliction and pain. I'll tell any young girl or boy, that if you can't be accepted into the company of someone for what you haven't done, be courageous enough to leave their company. Yet, so often you look up and hear an individual ask " Why would they do that". The answer: Pressures

Most assuredly, one will come behind and say, " No that can't be, what type of pressure would cause a person to do that, it's not that much pressure in the world." So in response they gather people to support their statement, declaring we've got to do something to help and because they've refused to acknowledge the answer they get no where. It's no surprise to one with the answer as to what's driving them.

Single Men vs Single Women > Single Black Men vs Single Black Women > Single ___ vs Married ___

From gender to race, from race to religion, from religion to politics, from politics to parenting and the list goes on.

How can anyone get to the bottom of something they are still connected to, lest they come out and be separated?

There are enough people who have lined up to represent gender, race, religion, politics, family etc. - that weren't given that as an assignment, and others who were, being Driven by conditions, positions, relations, and reputations. Some people have utilized fear, hurt, and a host of negative things be their driving force.

Only faith overcomes and last, so if anything or anyone outside of it has another driving force the results are sure to be temporary. If you're going to jump in or on board with someone or something, you need to know who or what is driving you.

I challenge you to challenge your conversations and the place from which you speak for a week and note the changes that take place in your life and relationships  Make sure to let us know the steps you took and the victories you had as a result.

The Threads of Writing

Have you ever heard of threading?

In the crafts world of knitting and crocheting, the first row of threading can determine how the entire project turns out.

How, you may ask? Well, if the first row is not spaced properly you can have a hard time developing the second row and it may force you to start all over from the beginning. I've done this many times before, and it can be quite tiresome to be on the same row 3-4 hours later, having made little progress.

If I were crocheting, I would pull out certain needle types and organize other accessories to get started. The easiest thing would seemingly be to pick out the yarn. However, sometimes that is the initial difficulty one experiences, due to all the patterns available. The same can be said for determining your audience in writing. There are certain resources that one can pull aside, such as books and tutorials, to assist them with the process but none of them are worth anything without hands on experience.

According to some experts, crocheting a large part of its' success depends upon a specific way you hold your hand. This particular illustration, by teachers, is in efforts to make crocheting easier for you by allowing the needle to do all the work. However, if you're uncomfortable using the technique of someone else, should you choose to do so, there is a great chance that you won't accomplish what you set out to do. Why because everyone is different, some people are left handed or left brained. What then, are they not able to successfully create an afghan or blanket of a pro?  Of course they are, but they do it their way.

Before you get out of your comfort zone you have to at least know what it is.
  • Practice writing your own content and developing a conversation style that you're comfortable with.
An opinion to one person, is advice to another; The criteria for sharing is wisdom.
  • Brainstorm all your interest, create drafts of the articles you would be interested in hearing about and value your contributions to healthy & harmless resolutions for your readers. You don't need 100 years worth of experience, 1 is enough. Though if you have it, utilize them to help someone you both.
Keep boundaries in their proper place.
  • There is no point in placing restrictions on yourself, when you are already rejected by some. If you were dehydrated, would you listen to a people, tell you that you should only drink a quarter of what you really require to function, due to the wastefulness of some. Surely you would need to either indulge, change suppliers, or both. Why? The supply you cut off, can be picked up somewhere else.

A Writers Heart

For but a moment today, I began to think of a writers heart.

Although, there was no immediate nor extreme extension of thought, I did identify the 2 categories in which they're known. Dark and Light

People write for all different reasons, public and private.
Though every thought can be traced back to a moment of darkness or a moment of enlightenment.
Surely those thoughts link to choices both good and bad. The choice to feel a certain way, act, and think along those same lines. Even the decision to share takes a certain path.

Do I agree that all things should be shared? No.

Why?
  • Some things are best to keep to yourself.
  • Whether written or spoken, words have power and create images.
  • The livelihood of others is not always protected (Spirit & Soul)
  • Every thought shouldnt be accepted but filtered.
There are many genres that exist in the world of written material.
Some of those genres indeed fit my observations on why all material shouldnt be printed.

What are those genres you ask?

Well, the following are a list of those I disagree with.

(Other media types of these categories are included also.)
  • Horrors
  • Fantasy
  • Erotic
  • Fables
  • Mythology

Are You Available?

Do you believe this statement is true? Why or Why not?

"Your Success is based on your Availability, you should Never be to busy to succeed."
 -WriteToVictory

Over the course of this week, I examined the topic statement within my professional and personal life. Frequently, I found myself too busy to make a call or conduct a follow up email. Regarding relationship, success seems to lie in the availability and consistent interactions of the parties involved. Sure, you understand what it means to plan.

However, some things just don't go according to plan. In those cases, its best to have a template to work from. One of the top things I like to do is plan, especially activities in a relationship.

The moment you are unavailable to meet someone elses need in a relationship, you will find that yours will often go unmet also. In case you have questioned whether or not I'm referring to sex, the answer is NO! Currently, you are enrolled in Human 101.

The lack of flexibility in availability, can have harmful effects in more than one area. Have you heard the phrase " I'm mentally exhausted"? In the workplace mental exhasution takes place often. Have you ever been considered, "Emotionally drained"? If either of these questions apply, I think it's safe to say that you've checked out. When you've checked out, guess what you're NOT available.

Call to Action:

# 1 Prioritize (Specifically) for your needs.

Many time we read articles or watch shows that suggest how we should prioritize our time, space and more. However, If my bedroom is 600x800 sq feet vs. your 1200x1450 sq feet bedroom, some things will get lost or excluded.

#2 Enlist others who have an interest in indoor/outdoor organization to you carry out your goals.

Do not overly exhert yourself.
This would be the most ideal time to recruit a person who is task (project) oriented and take pleasure in accomplishing set goals. An accountability partner would also play a great role in keeping you on track.

#3 Regroup, in case you hit a snag or an emergency situation has come up.

Various things can hault or slow up a project, though you don't want to focus or act according to those things. Carry out your first plays offensively, and when necessary switch over to your defensive plays.
